March 17, 2023: Happy St. Patrick’s day! How about a message of unity on this glorious day? My congresswoman was torched on Twitter this week for saying she’d be participating in a “St. Patty’s” Day Parade. For that she got called “a moron” and “stupid,” told she was “misappropriating the Irish culture,” and that she “proved she didn’t belong” in the parade. Now I know the world has bigger issues to deal with these days than this. But I felt compelled to weigh in on this discussion to add a bit of history and context. And love. I penned a little essay that got picked up by this website. (The photo was added by them, not me.) For the full artocle:

I had a chance to attend a gathering of people in Philadelphia at the National Convention Center a few weeks ago to address our present state of political dysfunction and polarization in this country called the Unconvention - I don't love that name but I loved the thought of gathering minds to confront this incredibly challenging issue. So many people I met there were chomping at the bit do something, and do it now in advance of the 2024 election. Everyone I met at this event wanted to talk about what can we do now?
After giving that question considerable thought, I wrote an essay floating a bold proposal that independents can employ right now that could possibly make a bit of a difference in 2024. It's not perfect - no solution is - but something has to be done now, in my opinion. This may be the best option. It would take a monumental effort, but this could help.
